Mike's Nasty Cheesy Bit

My name is Mike Bennett. My main interest is collecting and "restoring" (or not) old televisions, but I am interested in other stuff too.  (Old cars, beer etc. etc.)

Mmmm. Beer.

I got interested in electronics when I was young; my dad used to bring all sorts of electronic gadgets and circuits back from work if they were otherwise going to be thrown away.  I am essentially a lazy person, and never did much work at school and went straight to work as an apprentice engineer for some vicious bastards at Mastercare (Dixons and Curry's service, UK TV repair company) where I didn't do much work either.  Whilst there, I went to college and took (and passed) my City and Guilds 224(parts 1,2 and 3) exams.  After Mastercare (I couldn't get out of there quick enough), I worked briefly as a network technician in a comprehensive school, and then moved to an insurance company (The Medical Sickness Society) initially in Exeter, but later I moved to Solihull when the company moved to Birmingham (after they were bought out by The Wesleyan Assurance Society.)  I now work in the Wesleyan IT department as a network engineer pretending to look after firewalls etc. (and loving every minute of it), although I do miss Devon where I lived for 28 years of my life.

Zzzz - I've heard more than enough. Take me back.
